Description

Statement of the Problem

Signals undeniably are important in our daily endeavors. Most signals occur naturally in analog state and more difficult to process in that state, but more convenient to process in digital state. To efficiently process these analog signals, they need to be converted into equivalent digital signals. Many schemes and algorithms for this conversion exist in literature. This study therefore seeks to develop a faster scheme and algorithm for a more efficient conversion process.

Aim and objectives of the Study

The aim of the study is to develop a fast numerical algorithm for the conversion of analog to digital signals. To achieve this aim the following objectives were considered:         

I.            To ascertain existing numerical algorithms for the conversion of analog to digital signals.       

II.            Develop an efficient  numerical algorithm for the conversion of analog to digital signal    

III.            Determine the efficiency of the developed numerical algorithm for the conversion of analog to digital signal.    

IV.            Compare the efficiency of the existing algorithm with the developed algorithm for the conversion of analog to digital signal.

Significance of the Study

    The outcome of this study will be of great importance to computer students, computer lecturers, electrical/electronic students and lecturers, system engineers, personnel in the field of microcontroller and processor. It will serve as a reference material to researchers in the field of computer science, electrical/electronic, and other disciplines that has to do with signals or signal processing. The result of this study will provide a new spectrum for efficient signal conversion.
